     My 2014 pages are done, printed, & in the album!!!  I cannot get over how beautiful they are and how much different it is looking at them in the album versus looking at them on a computer.

     Seeing the pages printed has been a learning experience.  I learned that I need to TRIPLE check my journaling.  One page had the wrong month and the wrong year.......seriously, what was I thinking?  In the time that I have been a digiscrapper, I have learned a lot about what I like for drop shadows and have changed my styles a few times.  How my shadows look on the computer screen is way different than how they look printed though and I learned what styles are more realistic.

     It made my heart so happy to sit at the kitchen table in my parents' house on Mother's Day with my mom & son while flipping through this album.

     Persnickety Prints* is my all time favorite photo printing company.  The quality is amazing & they have outstanding customer service.  So when they had a sale for 25% off select square prints, I knew it was time to get my rear in gear & get my layouts printed!  I purchased print credits so that I could snag that deal & print when I was ready to.

     To get the things I needed to put my album together, I first stopped at Hobby Lobby.  The Paper Studio brand of scrapbook supplies was half off.  So I picked up 3 20 packs of the undivided 12x12 page protectors which ended up costing me $15 and change.  They didn't really have any albums that I liked so the next stop was AC Moore.  Which is where I found the Becky Higgins* Kraft edition album (which is not available for purchase on her site anymore) for $19.99.  When I went to check out, the woman ringing me out was such a sweetheart & gave me half off!  I was thrilled to have gotten 60 page protectors & a name brand album that I loved for about $25 less than it would have been.

     I have been wanting to have my own handwriting on my scrapbook pages.  I tried to do it myself but I didn't like the roughness of the edges or having to input each letter like you would an alpha. That just would not work for journaling.  I found a website called Your Fonts* and for the cost of $10, I was able to turn my handwriting into a font & is gorgeous! You print out their template (I would print out 2 or 3 to practice on), write your letters, numbers, etc, scan it, and upload onto their site.  You have the chance to preview your font & try it out before purchasing and downloading.  Once you have downloaded your new font, I would recommend that you then upload it onto a site like Dropbox* so you can access it again in case something like a hard drive crash happens.

     All these new things to play with have really got me itching to finish scrapping older photos and get them printed and put in my new album as well as start a book for my son.  What kind of things add new excitement to your scrapping?

What worked:

• Using Becky Higgins' Design A for the monthly cover pages and highlights while doing traditional layouts for event pages.
• Black & White photos.  Toward the tail end of last year, I did a few spreads with black and white photos with color elements and LOVED how it looked.

What didn't:

• Scrap envy.  I seriously need to stop getting down on myself for my pages not looking as amazing as other peoples'.  
• Barely including pictures of myself in layouts.  This happens because a) I am almost always the one taking the pictures and therefore only have "selfies" which feels vain to scrap and b) if someone else does take a picture of me, I don't like the way I look and therefore don't include it.  I am scrapping my story & I should include pictures of myself damn it!

Plans: 

• Print my pages! I was thinking about having all my pages printed into a book but I think that I am going to buy a 12x12 album, 12x12 page protectors and have my scrapbook pages printed when I can afford to do so.
• Organize my supply collection!  I have an external hard drive with 1 TB of supplies plus 4 flash drives with 32 gb of supplies each.  This is where I say that I'm pretty sure I am part dragon & my digiscrap supplies are my hoard.
• Take more notes throughout the month to help with my journaling. I want to include more words in my layouts to tell a better story.
• Take more pictures of myself & of Kyle and I together.
• I really love the look of wood backgrounds & am going to use it on my pocket style pages.
